A tongue piercing is one of the easiest piercings to change up, because the whole look comes down to the top ball. Here's a quick guide to the styles you'll find.
Classic balls
A plain steel or titanium ball is low-key and easy to wear every day. It's the go-to for work or school.
Gem and CZ tops
A sparkly gem top catches the light when you talk or smile.
Colorful and glow-in-the-dark
Acrylic and glow tops come in every color and are a fun way to match an outfit.
Fun and novelty tops
Logos, emojis, shapes and words: novelty tops are all about personality.

Size to check before you buy
Most tongue rings are 14 gauge (1.6mm) straight barbells, usually 5/8" (16mm) long once the piercing is healed. A brand-new piercing usually starts with a longer bar to allow for swelling, and your piercer will tell you when it's time to downsize.
Tip: stick with the size your piercer recommends, and only change your jewelry once your piercing is fully healed.
