Nose rings are the perfect personification of “all good things come in small packages”!
This one tiny little piece of jewelry has been the perfect accessory to feminine beauty since millennia past.  Available in a variety of designs, colors and finishes, there is one perfect for even the pickiest among us. Although there are many different types of nose piercings available, the most famous one perhaps is the piercing of the left or right nostril. Nostril piercings can be found in all ancient cultures from Africa to India and is said to enhance a woman’s beauty and fertility.

Several different kinds of nose ring designs are used to embellish these nostril piercings. The most notable are the:

  • Captive Bead Ring: These are the first option for a new nose ring wearer. It is a simple piece of jewelry shaped like a small hoop with its ends being held together by a small bead that also holds the ring in place while inserted into a piercing. A captive bead ring can be worn in the septum, ear and eye brow piercings in addition to the sides of the nose.
  • Nostril Screw: This is designed with a straight stem that turns to form a C shaped curve. A nostril screw is quite handy if you want an easy to use nose pin without the look of a ring. It can literally be screwed into a nose piercing. These also don’t fall out as easily as other types of nose rings.
  • Nose Bone: It looks like a nose stud and has a short stem with a design at one end and a bead at the other end. The design end is to remain outside while the bead is inserted into the nose piercing. The skin then tightens around the bead to hold the ring in its place.

If you are looking for something different, then you can consider the horse-shoe ring, L-shaped nose-pin or the nose hoop for a unique look. Ask your piercer for advice on the most suitable nose ring design for your face shape.
